1/2 lime, cut into pieces
3 tsp caster sugar
10-12 mint leaves
50 ml white rum (Bacardi)
soda water
crushed ice
Method
1. In a medium size glass muddle lime pieces and caster sugar hard. I used a rolling pin end for muddling.
2. Clap mint leaves in your hands to release their aroma. Add mint leaves to glass and muddle lightly.
3. Add bacardi and crushed ice and stir well.4. Top with soda water and more crushed ice.
Tip
It's easy to make your own crushed ice at home without a blender. Just throw some ice cubes into a clean tea towel then roll it up and bash away with a rolling pin.
Cheers, and enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

My favourite drink....Its such a summer drink isn't it? Beats me this drink is not as popular in Australia !! Nice photos 2 btw !!!
ReplyDeletehow funny, i was thinking of making some of these tonight because i have heaps of limes left over hehe :-) i think i'll be using brown sugar though because i think it's a bit healthier than white sugar. hope it still works ok. i even have palm sugar which is even better which i'll try too :-) long island ice tea is my all time favourite — it's got the most alcohol in it ;-)
ReplyDeleteahh I could do with one of those right now!
ReplyDeleteLove a good mojito as it's so refreshing during hotter weather or dreary/warm/humid weather like we're having in Sydney right now!
ReplyDeleteI need one (uhm, or twelve) right now! Love the tip on ice crushing.
ReplyDeleteMy absol fav is a strawberry kamikaze... not popular here in Oz, so its one of those def drinks that you have to make yourself rather than order at the bar.
ReplyDeleteThe Mojito.. yummy, I do mine in my magic bullet.. works like a treat!
Yummy! I love mojito's! That mint looks so perfectly fresh :)
ReplyDeleteAhh unfortunately I don't drink but my favourite mocktail would have to be the virgin mary... looking at this one - if it didn't have any alcohol - this would give it a run for its money!
ReplyDeleteOooh, all your comments are making me thirsty ;) I wish I could do a cocktail course, that would be SO much fun!
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to try this, minus the alcohol.
ReplyDeleteBeing seventeen and all :P
Mocktails can be just as tasty and refreshing as cocktails. Kristy, you might like to try this one without bacardi or sugar, and use lemonade instead of soda water :)
ReplyDeletemojito's are my standard favourite- but I also love variations such as a passionfruit mojito!
ReplyDeleteHi, listen, I'm pretty new on this blogosphere and Internet thing, so I don't know if there's a sort of "subscription" method that I can use in order to receive notifications of your new entries...? Thing is I enjoy reading your blog a lot and I'd like to be up to date with your posts!
